Technologies That Would Revolutionize the Future Classrooms

Technology has become an integral part of our lives. With technology, our living standards have increased. The same is happening with the learning process i.e. with the integration of technology in learning, the whole education process is becoming more effective and engaging.

Several constraints of the traditional education system are being overcome with technology-integrated learning systems. In this article, some of the technological methodologies are discussed that would probably be an integral part of the future classrooms and would revolutionize the whole process of education.

  • BYOD

BYOD or Bring Your Own Device is one of the most debated approaches towards integrating technology in classrooms. BYOD is simply a policy which allows employees (in this case, students) to bring their own devices (phones, PCs, etc.) to the institutions i.e. schools. Though it has some drawbacks like causing distractions, security issues, etc., the benefits are numerous.

Few of the major positives of BYOD policy is that it can make learning more personalized, more engagement and it reduces the burden on schools to install and maintain electronic devices. Whatever the case may be, BYOD has a huge potential of becoming one of the most followed trends in the near future.

  • AR and VR

These are the two types of reality learning i.e. augmented reality and virtual reality. With the use of AR and VR, learning concepts, especially from the STEM discipline can be extremely engaging, easy and effective. They can also be helpful to conduct virtual tours and thereby, help the students to develop a global perspective. With VR, learning even the complex topics like quantum mechanics can be a cinch.

Implementing the reality technologies can introduce certain emotional and psychological problems and should be used in an effective way. Also, as the cost of implementing these technologies is higher, many institutes are a bit sceptical to incorporate them into classrooms.

  • 3D Printing

3D printing can be extremely important to study different designs and models in a more practical and efficient way. For the students, especially from engineering, design and medical backgrounds, 3D printing can help to develop different designs and prototypes easily and study them thoroughly. With this, the efficiency of production and design can be better and more stable.

  • Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is one of the most used technology even in the present generation. It has widespread applications in the educational domain. Using cloud computing, keeping physical records of student would no longer be necessary and sharing resources would be easy as ever.

Various online educational systems are already using cloud computing to make learning more personalized and easily accessible. Now, it is just a matter of few years till cloud computing is implemented in most of the classrooms, taking traditional education to a whole new level.

These were just some of the noteworthy mentions that have high potential to be incorporated into the classrooms. In future, learning difficult topics like thermodynamics, waves, etc. can be a lot easier. Though the cost of implementing most of these technologies in classrooms is higher, they would certainly find their place in most of the institutes within a few more years.
